Visiting the Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands can be described as an enclave surrounded by the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. They became famous throughout the entire world thanks to their wonderful climate, the breathtaking scenery and the exceptional beaches. As a tourist there, you will notice the fact that the people are extremely welcoming, while the hospitality feels in the islands like home. Millions of tourists find the secluded beaches, the fertile farmlands, the green forests, the scenery, the crystal clear waters, the unique folklore and the top class hotels as being the perfect combination for a perfect, memorable holiday.

A short history lesson

Tourists visit the island of Menorca attracted by the prehistoric sites hosted by it: the megalithic monuments, the Ses Paisses settlements and the Els Tudons prehistoric tomb are names that should be on your sightseeing list. Many different cultures left their marks on the islands, starting with the Phoenicians, the Greeks, continuing with the Carthaginians, the Romans, the Byzantines and the Vandals and finishing with the Arabs and the Christians; it is easy to understand once you read this long list why and how the islands manage to attract the attention of so many tourists: it is the unusual and original cultural mix that offers them a very special air and atmosphere not easy to find somewhere else. If you visit Menorca, you will realize the fact that its historical and cultural heritages are impressive. Its history is a very agitated one and it was only in 1802 that all the problems were over for Menorca: this is the year when the Spanish control was finally established. Ibiza has a strategic maison location espagne, so it represented an interest point for the Romans, the Carthaginians or the Arabs: they had to fight against the pirates who centuries ago continuously attacked Ibiza.

Having fun

If you visit the islands during one of the many festivals and celebrations, you have the chance to see the old Spanish customs and traditions. They have a fantastic tradition in which concerns the local crafts, such as pearl cultivation, pottery, objects made from palm leaves or raffia and even handmade shoes; I am sure that your attention will be attracted by these. Since you are there, you have to try the local cuisine; the dishes containing a lot of fish and vegetables such as the garlic or the tomatoes are absolutely delicious. Enjoy the superb islands!
