Beaches in Alicante

Overview

Alicante, based on the Mediterranean coastline of the Costa Brava, is a great destination for those seeking some relaxing sun bathing, water sports and family fun. The city boasts a number of great beaches catering to all tastes, for young families to water sport junkies.

Different beaches to visit

Head to the Saladar beach which is situated a short distance from the city centre by bus or car and boasts a large clean beach with great facilities including umbrellas and beds as well as cafes and small boutiques. Its location out of the city ensures clean waters, location maison en espagne, ample parking and uncrowded conditions on which to lounge in the sun and work on the tan.

Others prefer the sands of Postiguet which you can reach within the city limits along a beautiful boulevard shaded on both sides by palms. This beach, thanks to its central location, boasts a wide range of facilities and remains popular with locals who have taken their late afternoon stroll along the esplanade. There are also a good range of facilities including cafes and bars located near the nearby harbour and marina.

Heading north from the city you’ll come to Albufereta which was originally a small dishing port. This beach remains popular amongst fishing enthusiasts as well as those who like to practice safer water sports within the calmer waters of the area away from dangerous tides. Whilst in the area you can also try the beach at San Juan which is a stunning 4.5 mile stretch of sand. Its clean (now in proud possession of a blue flag beach) and boast a good range of tourist amenities including cafes, car parks and restaurants. The sand itself is wonderfully clean and gold in appearance, and is a definite must-see.

Those looking for a quieter experience like Almadraba Playa, as its undeveloped nature to the north of the city means lesser crowds and its clear and safe waters make a pleasant swimming experience.

Others prefer to head to the coves which are quieter but very picturesque and provide some excellent spots for some quiet secluded bathing without the crowds and noises of the larger beaches in more central locations. Whatever your preference, there’s something for everyone in Alicante – whether you like action packed water sports on a rocky beach, quiet secluded bathing or a clean, friendly beach suitable for all the family. The wealth of facilities available ensures you’ll never be short of choice.
